Saving Money on

Private Labels

Back to Home

Whether you use the traditional terms of store brands / private brands or the more upscale term of private labels, this alternative to higher priced national name brand products is one way to save money without sacrificing quality. In fact, one of those name brand companies may have actually manufactured the product for the private label, so get the same product for less.

Make a copy of this list of private brands at Fred Meyer, and you will maximize your savings with their popular “Born Before ’56” senior discount, now every Tuesday during November and December. Make your shopping list today!

Private Brands include: Fred Meyer, Kroger, Private Selection, Active Lifestyle, Aroma Fusion, Bagel Bunch, Big K, Café, Comforts, Cool Classic, Cool Splasher, Cool Squeeze, Country Oven, Crystal Clear, Deluxe, Dog Gone Deli, Ecosafe, Everyday Living, Selections, Golden Crown, Heritage Farm, Holiday Home, Kivu, Kroger Value, Mirra, Mountain Dairy, Nature’s Song, Old Fashion, Old Yeller, Party Pail, Pet Pride, Private Selection Organic, Seasons Best, Tampico, Thirst Rocker, Turkey Hill, Vita Bee, and Wholesome@Home.

If you participate in the Kmart Smart Assist Savings Program, here is a list of their private label Kmart brand products. Their “own brand” grocery and drugstore merchandise includes: American Fare, Aviya, Biostyle, Champion Breed, Little Ones, Hercules, Image Essentials, Quality Guaranteed, Smart Cents, Smart Sense, Torq, and Vitasmart products, and Our Family products available exclusively at Super Kmart stores.

Wal-Mart keeps it simple with their Great Value brand spanning 100 categories, while Target recently made a bold move by replacing their traditional bullseye logo with a new logo and expanded line of 800 products named “up & up.”

Chain stores want you to populate your home with their private label products by offering 5-35% savings compared to national brands. With that incentive, this is one of the best penny pinching ways to save money.
