Saving Money on
Ongoing Restaurants Deals
local restaurants eager to fill their tables during off hours. For fans of German food, Rheinlander (5035 NE Sandy Blvd) is one of many local restaurants offering early bird specials. Dining on the day that your favorite entree is the featured special also saves money.
For families with hearty appetites like mine, there is nothing like an all-you-can eat or buffet. The Family Night Buffet at select Round Table Pizza locations on Tuesdays, 5:00-8:00 p.m. is a winner at $6.99 for adults, $3.99 for children 4-10, and free for children age 3 and under. DeNicola’s (3520 SE Powell Blvd) serves all-you-can-eat spaghetti on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings for $7.99.
If you’re craving Mexican, Crazy Combo Thursdays at Acapulco Mexican Restaurant Y Cantina (10566 SE Washington St) fill you up for $8.99, plus $2 off Cadillac margaritas. They also offer Kids Eat Free Tuesdays, Pronto Lunch Buffet, Happy Hour drink specials and ½ price appetizers 4:00-7:00 p.m., and a “Fiesta Amigo” email club.
Perspectives on Dining Out
Dining out is one of my favorite pastimes. After all, a person has to eat, and there are so many wonderful restaurants in Portland beckoning for a try. However, with multiple mouths to feed, the cost per person is a real issue.
My arsenal for saving money on dining starts with the Portland Entertainment Book and gift certificates from Restaurant.com. I’m a recent convert to receiving the daily deal offers from Groupon and Living Social, because they are a great way to have more fun while opening yourself up to new possibilities. These daily coupons will keep you busy.
After looking at their restaurant lists, I’m tempted to join Portland Eats Out and Passport Club. Read more to find out why.
The Chinook Book is another great resource for savings, with an eclectic mix of coupons for restaurants, stores and merchants.
Enjoy great food deals at Jake's Famous Crawfish during their twice daily Happy Hour. This Portland landmark has been pleasing crowds for over a hundred years. Another local favorite is the Heathman Hotel where Happy Hour kicks off at 2:00 pm daily.
You’ll find these and more in my Downtown Portland West Happy Hour Chart, a handy side-by-side comparison of Happy Hour times throughout the day.
AARP Savings
At Denny’s, your AARP membership card will save you 20% off your total check from 4:00-10:00 p.m. every day. Also, coffee is just $1 for you and your guests, 24/7.
Don’t forget to sign up for Denny’s Rewards, which will bring news and special offers to your email inbox.
